Installation and Initial Setup

This guide walks you through installing the ContentGate plugin on your WordPress site and completing the initial setup to start restricting content access. By the end of this guide, you'll have ContentGate installed, activated, and ready to create your first content access rule.

Prerequisites

A WordPress site (self-hosted or managed)

Administrator access to your WordPress dashboard

WordPress version 5.0 or higher (recommended)

Install ContentGate

You can install ContentGate directly from the WordPress plugin directory.

Steps

Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.

Navigate to Plugins → Add New.

In the search box, type "ContentGate" and press Enter.

Locate the ContentGate plugin by ThemeGrill in the search results.

Click the Install Now button.

Once installation completes, click the Activate button.

After activation, you'll see ContentGate appear in your WordPress admin sidebar.

Access ContentGate Settings

Once activated, ContentGate is ready to use. No setup wizard is required.

Steps

In your WordPress admin sidebar, locate and click ContentGate.

You'll see two main tabs: Content Rules and Settings.

The Content Rules tab is where you'll create and manage access rules. The Settings tab contains the global restriction message configuration.
